Many people living in Aged Care receive very limited social visits from family or friends. ACVVS Wynnum is helping to make a difference,
one resident at a time. We match a Volunteer Visitor with a resident living in care for visiting on a regular basis for the purpose of friendship and companionship.
Do you enjoy a cuppa and chat? Do you have a heart for connecting with people? All that is required is as little as an hour of your time, once a fortnight to brighten someone's day and you make a friend in the process.

About Us
The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is an Australian Government Funded national program, previously known as the
Community Visitors Scheme (CVS).
Wynnum Baptist Church is a funded auspice and provides this service in Brisbane's South-East. Our involvement commenced in 1992. We service from Wynnum to Redland Bay, to Mt Gravatt, to Annerley and in between.
Our Mission
To provide one on one volunteer visitors to residents of Australian Government subsidised residential aged care homes, who have limited family and social contact, so the risk of isolation is minimised and whose quality of life would be improved by friendship and companionship.
Help make a difference...
Volunteer Visitors
We are looking for volunteers who have a genuine empathy and understanding of the elderly, good communication, a commitment to developing a strong relationship with a resident, understand the importance of confidentiality, be flexible and the ability to work independently. Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Visits can be weekdays, weekends, mornings or afternoons at a mutually convenient time at an Aged Care home near you.
If successful, our friendly team will support you through the initial process (which includes application, information session
and police clearance) and throughout your volunteering journey. Volunteers from a variety of backgrounds are invited to assist in providing companionship to older people who would benefit from having a sense of connectedness with their individual community, culture and identity.
